How To Make The Most Of Your Daily Water Intake

Thirsty? Here’s how to get the most out of your daily water intake.

Drinking enough fluid daily is crucial because that life-giving water:

  • Distributes nutrients and oxygen to our cells and tissues
  • Helps detoxify the body by flushing waste produce through the liver and kidneys
  • Prevents muscular fatigue and aids in digestion
  • Lubricates the joints and lends moisture and buoyancy to our skin barrier

You can get more out of your daily water intake by:

Increasing your mineralization:

Americans are a largely demineralized population, meaning that we lack the crucial minerals and nutrients that our ancestors gleaned from natural water, and food sources grown in rich, unadulterated soil. In particular, the mineral content we used to get from our local water sources has been depleted.

Today, one of the best ways we can support mineralization is by supplementing with key minerals like magnesium, potassium and calcium, and investing in a high-quality salt. I like French grey salt or Himalayan pink salt for their purity and rich mineral content - not to mention their amazing flavors!

Investing in filtration:

The average glass of tap water contains concerning amounts of arsenic, lead, PFA’s and other toxins, including endocrine disruptors. If you can afford it, I suggest an Eagle Springs water filtration system for your household drinking water & Berkey Shower filters for any shower heads to help filter out toxins. For more information on the tap water in your zip code, be sure to check out the EWG’s Tap Water Database.

Supplementing on the go:

I developed my food-based electrolyte powder, Wild-Lytes, as an easy and portable way to promote hydration, detoxification and so much more! Wild-Lytes takes a unique approach to hydration, providing phytonutrient value that enhances how your body uses water. Organic cilantro supports liver function and blood sugar regulation, while the Vitamin C in watermelon boosts immune function. With Wild-Lytes, your daily water intake does more.
